Mozilla Community Space Jakarta is not a Mozilla office in Indonesia, instead, it is a space for community, run by Mozilla Indonesia community, with Mozilla’s full support. This community space is dedicated, especially for web developers who want to share knowledge to each other. It is an open and free space to be used for workshops and trainings. “I hope this community space can be useful for many people, especially inspire those who come to our events here. We have run the Space for a year now and we can feel how much needed this Space is, especially for those communities which don’t have their own space yet to gather and organize event. During 2016 alone, we succeed to manage 103 events and welcome 1.292 visitors who come here.” said Yofie Setiawan, Jakarta-based Mozilla Representative as well as Space Manager of Mozilla Community Space Jakarta.
To show gratitude of a job well done, and to celebrate the new space, Mozilla Indonesia Community held an opening night at Friday, 2 June 2017. The opening was held at the Mozilla Community Space Jakarta itself, Gedung TIFA – Annex Suite, Jalan Kuningan Barat 1 no 26, Jakarta Selatan, started from 5PM. Other than local developer communities, this event was also attended by partners, and journalists from offline and online media.
The opening night was also attended by George Roter, Head of Core Contributors, Participation of Mozilla who came to officiated the reopen of Mozilla Community Space Jakarta in a new location.
“We are proud of being able to support a volunteer and community-run physical space in Jakarta. This is a city with a rapidly growing technology sector, and many Web Developers, educators and advocates who are helping to shape Internet experiences for Indonesians and beyond. As a proudly non-profit organization, a strong Mozilla community presence in Jakarta can help us to connect with and support these technologists, helping advance our goal of keeping the Internet healthy, open and accessible to all.” said George.
The space is now open to hold Mozilla-related and various other events focusing in technology. Mozilla Indonesia Community invites other open source communities to collaborate in many respective fields by having a number of different kinds of events at the Mozilla Community Space Jakarta.
